Introduction: Mike

Post by bigmikeny »

Hi my name is Mike and first off I would like to thank all the Rangers and veterans on this board for serving. I started my journey to join the army two years ago as an overweight salesman weighing in at 305 pounds. I lost a hundred pounds and this summer I went to enlist in the army but found out they were no longer accepting recruits with GED and that I needed 15 college credits so I sold my motorcycle and signed up for the credits and completed the semester with 3.44 GPA.

I went to meps two weeks ago with the intentions of getting a 68w medic contract knowing that I am red green color deficient with plans of putting in a packet at AIT for the option 40 contract with the color blind waiver. At meps I failed the pip and falant but then they had me look at some cards that were red and green and I passed that part and found out I could enlist 11x.

I asked for option 4 and option 40 my meps counselor called what he called the rock down at ft knox and he said no contracts were available. So I enlisted for 11x even though I couldn’t get the option 40 but I am very happy just being able to enlist infantry as I thought it was something I would never be able to do. I plan on maxing out my pt score when I arrive at basic and my gt score was a 120 so if by any chance of sheer luck a slot for option 40 becomes available at basic I will be eligible for it.
