Ocs gone, RIP on the way

Post by RhodyOcs »

I wrote earlier in regards to wanting to become a Ranger, eventhough I was going ocs, and aviation most likely through the national guard. Last Wednesday, I attempted to rescind my National Guard Ocs contract, because I realized that becoming a Ranger was more important to me then becoming a blackhawk pilot. Luckily, I had no problems, except for a few minutes of people asking me if I was sure I wanted to do this. My NG contract was scrapped, as I had not been to basic yet and they(the state) lost no money out of it. On Thursday, I went to the Army recruiter's office and begged my case to enlist 11x op40. On Tuesday, I went to Boston MEPs and signed my contract. I leave for basic at Benning on September the fourth. My parents lost their shit over this, but I realized after coming to this board what my priorities are. I want to be among the best, and now I am afforded the opportunity to do so. I will do what needs to be done.

Congratulations. You are doing exactly what I would like all the guys to do. Ranger School is cool, but being in a Battalion is another world. That experience alone will change your life forever. There's nothing you can't do.

You have all my admiration now. Don't fail. Don't you dare fail. This isn't an easy road or an easy out if you fail. You'll be back where ya started when you were 10 years old. Don't fail.

This is a road that you make. You control the outcome. You are the only one who makes or breaks your destiny, make it one for which you can be proud!!!

Good choice. You can always be a fly boy later. I know alot of guys that went warrent and then became pilots after they spent some time in Batt.
