Hello Rangers&Members

My name is Edwin i am 17 years old im currently living in barcelona spain and i am really interested in becoming a army ranger.I dont want to write a big wall of text but heres a idea of my situation.I droped out of school in my late junior year because i was interested in joining the french foreign legion(im a american citizen but i was born in the dominican republic)i still have alot of respect for the legion but i want to serve my country and join one of the most elite fighting force in the world.I been to france a couple times just go receive some information on the legion(which i have)i also dont want to sound cocky but im physically fit and im sure endurance test are no big issues for me.I do know leaving HS was the biggest mistake of my life but i cant take that back now,i wish i could but i cant.I am heading back the united states in about a month im planning on taking a GED test/get 15 collage credits and try to join but if you guys believe finishing high school is a better idea please feel free to tell me.Im a down to earth guy alot of people tell me im really mature for my age(i look really old)i believe everyone makes mistakes but you can recover from them.If any ranger or normal member of this forum has any advice for me again please pm me or just leave a post below i would really appreciate it.

You're 17 years old. Go back to school and finish up if you have the opportunity. If you can't, get your GED and college done. You never know when you'll decide to get out of the military, if you even end up in it at all.

x2. It's not too late to go back to school. If you were 22, I'd advise a GED.

On a related front, we use proper punctuation, grammar (for the most part) and capitalization on this site. Until you get an ROE search through the forums, look at what's been addressed before, and try not to make an ass of yourself.

I'm kidding bud. You need your diploma, seriously, you're only 17, you're not going to miss anything, except more opportunities in life without the proper education. Trust me I know.

The days of picking someone on abilities alone are long gone, the powers that be are going to want to see education, education, education, and then ask about your physical abilities.

Once again, I would recommend going back to HS. However, if you're mind is set on getting a GED, check out the National Guard Youth Challenge Program. Follow this link. http://www.ngycp.org/site/

It's a free way to get your GED, and you won't owe any military obligation. However, since you intend to enter the military, it's a good start. You'll still have to get some college done to get an OPT40 (Ranger) contract, but it's not a bad idea.
