$90k to stay deployed as a TOC rat doing Class III (that right?) controls is some serious cash but a TOC is still a TOC....you know what I mean.
If you really want it, go 13F as was recommended. Your CAS time will definitely be a force multiplier for you and your FIST'ers. Or try to get to the 14th ASOS at Pope?

Re: Air Force TACP switch to Army RANGER?
Let me get this straight: You wanted to be a badass so you joined the airforce? Personally I think the STS route is smarter route than swapping branches. At least I would try that first as it will introduce you to a whole world of knuckle-draggers. If you go with transferring to the Army for a shot at regiment you may find there are many ways that plan can fail and you'll find yourself somewhere you didn't expect.
Of course if your goal is to be "hooked up with schools, gucci gear, and be a PT monster", you should be thinking Navy, not Army.

I give this advice simply because the odds are stacked against you getting into Regiment. You could give up your Sergeant rank, a 90K reup bonus, over all better living conditions in the AF, and not even get a slot for RASP, or fail to meet the standard, and get stuck in some leg unit.
You need to sit down and make a realistic list of advantages and disadvantages to adopting this course of action. You don't want to go into it second guessing, and you don't want to be kicking yourself in the ass 2 years down the road.
x2.

Dude - I'm a former TACP, Ranger Qual'd and did my time in the Regiment. My advice to you would be to attend the next STS selection. They've dramatically increased the numbers for TACP bubbas to support the 75th and the SFGs. TACPs are now assigned to each STS and fall under AFSOC. You won't be controlling shit from the TOC once you make the switch to SOF.
Also, there are shit talkers, back stabbers, etc - in every group of people on the fucking planet. Drive on, do your thing and they will fall by the wayside.
Here's the info you need. If selected, you will immediately be put under AFSOC and will receive the training you desire. I'll PM you the actual email addresses for the POCs.
Application
Phase 1 of the assessment and selection process is package review at AFSOTC. Keep in mind that your package will make your first impression for you. Take the time to carefully follow T&Q standards for military writing. Ask others to proof read your work. Contact MPF and have a proper military photo taken, enclose an original. Do not plagiarize another candidate; also ensure any letters of recommendation are not plagiarized. Use quality materials. The time, effort, and attention to detail will be evident. Maintain a complete copy of your application package as a backup.
Preparation
You should begin training and preparing for phase 2 of the assessment in ample time. While the process is not advertised by design, there are a few events you were required to complete prior to Phase 1, and should expect to see again. You should strive to max out the AFSOC PT test, and ruck; consider strength, agility, and endurance in your preparation. Be ready for any task.
Study, review, and be equipped to execute any area you are certified on as a TACP/JTAC, as it pertains to the position you are assessing for. TTPs, equipment, knowledge, etc…
Execution
Follow the reporting instructions and packing list. Strictly adhere to AFI 36-2903; your uniform should be the example; make sure your beret is clean and serviceable. Be professional, courteous and respectful. Always tell the truth, accept criticism, and self-correct mistakes. Don’t make excuses and do not argue with cadre. Push yourself - until completion or failure.
You should not expect to have R&R time while assessing.
Remember – you are being assessed in every aspect, at all times; maintain yourself as such.
Exemplify the core values.
In addition to the POCs on the AMS add, you may feel free to contact us with any questions regarding this opportunity. We want good men to take on this challenge, and succeed. We will help you apply, and prepare, see you execute, and hopefully train you.
