Hello Rangers,

My name is Joel, im 17 years old and im waiting to attend my final year of high school. I joined the DEP today and im shipping out on July 11 of 2011. My MOS that I chose was 11x. Unfortunately there was no available slots for option 40, so I either have to keep asking or hopefully after OSUT i will be offered Airborne and then Ranger School. I have always strived to be one of the best and I work out really hard every day so that I can soon join this elite brotherhood.

Welcome, Joel. Congratulations for enlisting. If you have what it takes and it's what you want, go back to your recruiter and tell him the deal is off unless he re-nogotiates your contract to 11X Opt. 40. Accept nothing else. Be sure to read and heed the ROE PM I have sent you.

Thank you, and yes I have read your message. I actually talked to my recruiter yesterday and since there is a year left until i go to OSUT, he told me each month were going to be calling back at MEPS to get a option 40, and if this doesnt happen then i wont accept it without a option 40.
