inspiration

Post by cct13 »

hello my name is Dustin Wright. even though i am not a ranger my dream in life is to become one.
on my 12th birthday my dad gave me a book called "six silent men" by Kenn Miller it told the story of the lrrp/ranger units in Vietnam. I was amazed at the hard time these soldiers had to go through, and decided that if i do any thing in the military this was what it was what it was going to be. determined to learn all could about this MOS i search on Google and youtube and learn just a tad bit about what they did, how they did it, and when they did it.from this i concluded that this is definitely what i wanted to be then i learned about air force combat controllers (cct) then i said no i want to earn the title special forces not ranger. then not two weeks later me and a friend was riding bikes through downtown at about 1:00am when we saw an old man trying to fix his bike(the chain had popped off) thinking he need help we went to him. when he saw us coming he tensed up so bad we even noticed it and then he spoke "you boys better not come any closer or I'll tie you up like a pretzel" and we both stated that we meant no harm we just wanted to help. to make a long story short he thought we was muggers and after he learn we meant no harm he told us that he was a ranger in Vietnam and told us his story's he had to tell i was amazed by the the end i was calling him a hero and he just looked at me and said,"hero's are in story books son i was just a man doing my job". when i got home i told my dad my problem i wanted to be a ranger and a cct. and he just said why not do both so at my story's end i decided to do both. my plan is to join the army and get it in my contract that i want to be a ranger then become a ranger join a ranger regiment do my six years there then join the air force and go cct then if i make it through til then that will be my military career. now i just more information about both career paths and what i should do, and i figured where is a better place to find information then from a bunch of rangers thank you for each and every one of you guys inspiration just by being ranger again, thank you

Dustin, welcome to the site. How old are you currently? Just to give you a heads up, we appreciate it when the first eeter in Ranger is capitalized. It also is much easier on our tired, old eyes if you use punctuation and paragraphs.

Thanks for your interest in our community.

When I was at Fort Knox BCT Aug 2001 I read 6 Silent Men and " Diary of An Airborne Ranger" by Frank Johnson I still have the books to this date. I wonder how many LRRP's I read about in the book are on this site :?:

Ok Iam sorry for my mistakes and i will be sure to remember every thing you say.

Currently Iam 15 I live in High Point, NC my favorite things to do consist of running, mountain biking, reading books about anything really, and going to the gun range. I live in the city so i really cant get out much. Iam in the 10th grade at high point central and I'm in Marine Corps JROTC.

I cant say much about my physical condition i can run 1 mile in 8 minutes but can easily two or three miles in rough terain like the mountains. Push-ups are easy for me i can do just about as many as you'd ask for, i can do about 500 sit-ups. pull-ups are extremely hard for me i can only do about 3 or 4 at the most i'm 6' 2 and 160 pounds. my cousin is currently a Ranger and tells me that i have to be able to run 5 miles in 40 minutes if i want to be a Ranger the thing is is i don't no what i can do to get better at pull-ups thats really my question, but over all I will gladly except any information you have to offer.

especially anything that would help me to become a Ranger.

I'm going to lock this thread until an admin can come along. Our rule is that we require members to be 16 on this site. just one of our rules, and it's got nothing to do with you. so come back and see us in a year. feel free to read, but your account will probably be locked for now. an admin may expand on this when they see it.

We have a site rule that states that a member must be 16 yrs of age or older to take part in our forums. This has nothing to do with you, personally. It is just how we run the site. Please refrain from making any further posts until your 16th birthday. You are welcome to research the board and read all you want in the meantime.

Again, please don't take this personal. It is merely one of our rules.
