Introduction

Post by JWhiteland »

Rangers,

I am a E-5 11B on Active duty. I served 5 years in the Texas Army National Guard w/ 2years in the 143rd LRSD out of Camp Mabry Austin Texas. I have deployed twice to Iraq once in 2005 for 12mos and once in 2007 12mos. I am currently in the 1 Armor Division Army Evaluation Task Force. When I joined the National Guard at 18 I joined on the intent to transfer to Active duty right out of OSUT, because I was not able to enter active duty in 2003 cause I had a GED, and the Army was not hurting for soldiers. Anyways I have wanted to be an Army Ranger ever since I knew what one was, so when I was in Airborne School after basic I was asked if I wanted to become a ranger I said yes thinking here was my chance so after a short run to RIP and they realized I was in the National Guard they sent me packing. Long story short after my contract was up in the Guard I was offered active duty so I jumped at it. I was sent to Ft. bliss where I am currently stationed and I called Ranger Rgt every month for a year and a half trying to pursue my dream. Finally they sent me a packet and are now giving me a chance. I have a school date of 10July for RASP1 then pre-ranger, then Ranger school 10OCT 2010. I am ready for the challenge to earn the title of a Ranger. Hopefully by Jan2011 I will have succeeded. My intentions here are to read and learn any information that will set me up for success. Thanks for having me RLTW
