Introduction

Post by 95&aft »

Greetings Rangers:

My name is Peter, and I have been reading through these forums to learn about becoming a Ranger. Currently I am a CH-47D crew member, and am ejoying the ride! After my next deployment, I will be looking to leave the Army Reserve.

The discussions posted have shown me that at 27, I would not be 'too old'. Also, I have read the stories of prior-service individuals. As instructed they did not quit, did not compromise, and were given their option 40 contracts.

Until that day comes, I will be ridding the ramp.

despite what you inferred about prior service and OPT 40s, most didn't get a 40, they worked it differently.

and if you didn't know it, life in Regt vs AV is about 180. make sure you're ready for it.

To be realistic, even if you can swing an Opt40, odds are against you seeing the far end of RASP, then you'll be stuck in BigArmy for 3.5 more years.
Consider taking your training and experience to the Green Platoon and see if you can earn your way into the 160th SOAR. You'll still do some good work there.

Either way, all the best and welcome here.
