Hello Rangers, the name is Ian, i'm an 11B, I'm assigned to 2/16 IN "Rangers", my battalion fought with Rangers on the beaches of Normandy, and somehow we got the name "Rangers". There is a whole lot of ranger influence within the battalion, especially since our CSM was a former RI. I've always wanted to become a ranger, and i've been bothering my chain of command pretty bad during this deployment for a slot to Ranger School when we get back. Hopefully I get it.

Welcome to our site, and THANK YOU for your service to our great country.

I've been out for awhile.....so I'm not sure what to say about soldiers from 2 / 16 Infrantry calling themselves " Rangers " ???? ( Thats with a capitol R by the way. )

My Grandfather parachuted in with 101st Screaming Eagles on that fateful day when Rangers where hitting the beach at Normandy, and he served along side several Rangers in Ranger Units on some missions, but he nor anyone from his unit called themselves " Rangers ".

You have come to the correct location to find info on Ranger School & Pre-Ranger.

Yea my units name has bothered me from day one, sorry if i've offended you guys. We got mixed reviews when we had to wear our battalion t-shirts in Kuwait, mostly from high speed POGs, wondered what the actual Ranger community thought about it. Once again I apologize if I offended you guys

Yeah, I know that the 16th Infantry has used "Rangers" as their nickname for a long time. At least since Viet-Nam.
