Hello Rangers, My name is Mike I'm 18 I'm from Texas I enlisted in the Army March 8th for 11x they told there was no Option 40 open for 11x(get to that later) I ship 20100628 to Ft. Benning. My whole family is Military key highlight my great grandfather that I was named after was in the 82nd Airborne in WWII and did all four combat jumps, My uncles were in the 101st in korea both were Paramedics, I have wanted to go into the army since I was 6. a close friend of mine was in the Rangers and served in Grenada in Op:Urgent Fury he was like a mentor to me. the pride he had from the Ranger makes me want to earn the title. I will go to the ends of the earth to get into the Rangers, so what can I do to set up my path to get into the the Rangers without the Option 40 or 4

Welcome and congratulations for enlisting to serve our country. You should consider renogotiating your contract. Tell your recruiter that you have thought about it more and want an Option 40 and that you are willing to wait for it. If that can't be done to meet your timeline, insist on getting an Option 4 (Airborne). That way you stand a chance to get to RASP during Airborne training. Otherwise, you have to be the best at everything during OSUT to get a shot at Airborne and then to get a shot at RASP and you would have to keep your fingers crossed all the way. Be sure to read and heed the ROE PM I have sent you.
