There is a lot of emotion around this issue. When Mitt Romney was Governor of Massachusetts, the legislature mandated health care for all citizens of the commonwealth. Does anyone know how that is working out?

Didn't Oregon also try something like mandated Health insurance?

I think the thing that gets me is "they" keep using the word health care instead of health insurance. I think "they" like to use word play, so it appears sick people are going to the hospitol and getting turn away.

Actually it is health care, and not health insurance. Insurance is something you get for the big bad "what if". What if your house burns down, or you get into a car wreck? That is what insurance is for. What they are proposing is not for the big "what if" but for everything, especially the stupid mundane things. The hospitals will be flooded with people having the sniffles or a hang nail (like they do in England) until the whole system collapses on itself from too many people in the system, seeking free health care for mundane problems.

Now, they will truck out all sorts of sob stories to sell their point. Recently they had one woman on there, who had been at her job for 20 years, got laid off, and now has a heart problem. They didn't ask why did she not buy her own health insurance before being laid off, or why is she so damn fat. If she put down the chocolate covered twinkies, she probably wouldn't have a heart problem (and probably wouldn't be laid off). But, instead they do the sob story and make it seem like the mean old business she worked for is the enemy.

Aren't the current government managed health care sources (VA, Medicaid, Medicare) having issues providing care to those that qualify and need it. Are they doing it adequately now that we can venture off into something bigger. Why would anyone believe that government can provide coverage to everyone when we have difficulties managing what is currently on the books.

Obama's shit is weak, and he knows it. Now the Democrat heavies are putting ads in Dem areas, to try to get the people to convince the blue dog Dems to come around to the health care issue. Obama is going on TV tonight, AGAIN, to convince the American public they really need it (Obama has done four prime time press conferences in about six months, while GW only did it four times in 8 years). However there is no outcry for it. This is an issue without a popular uprising. The ONLY people that want it are Democrats, so that they can gain even more power. This is why they are saying they have to pass it NOW!! Mainly because no one knows what is in it. This is yet ANOTHER bill that can't be read, and no one has a clue about.

I'm down in Rhode Island most of the time now but I was living in MA when Deval Patrick started his mandatory health care. I don't think they made you switch off the insurance you were on, but I know if you didn't have insurance you were forced to join the states health insurance plan. When I've talked to my buddies that still live up there they said the state run insurance thing hasn't worked out too well because on top of paying for your own coverage, taxes have gone up to pay for coverage for the people who can't afford to pay for their own or something. I'm never up there anymore so I don't know the details, but the people I've talked to don't seem to be too happy about it.

I have noted that many elected officials, both Democrats and Republicans, called upon America to unite behind Obama.

Well, I want to make it clear to all who will listen that I AM NOT uniting behind Obama! I didn't unite behind Obama! I will respect the Office which he holds, and I will acknowledge his abilities as an orator and word smith and pray for him, BUT that is it.

I have begun today to see what I can do to make sure that He is a one-term President!

Why am I doing this? Because

It is because I do not share Obama's vision or Value system for America ;

I do not share his Abortion beliefs;

I do not share his radical Marxist's concept of re-distributing wealth;

I do not share his stated views on raising taxes on those who make $150,000+ (the ceiling has been changed three times since August);
I do not share his view that America is Arrogant;
I do not share his view that America is not a Christian Nation; (THIS JUST SHOWS HE CERTAINLY ISN'T UP ON HIS AMERICAN HISTORY!)

I do not share his view that the military should be reduced by 25%;
I do not share his view of amnesty and giving more to illegals than American Citizens who need help; (NO WAY, HOSEA!)

I do not share his views on homosexuality and his definition of marriage;
I do not share his views that Radical Islam is our friend and Israel is our enemy who should give up any land; (GIMME A BREAK!)
I do not share his spiritual beliefs (at least the ones he has made public);

I do not share his beliefs on how to re-work the healthcare system in America ;
I do not share his Strategic views of the Middle East, and certainly do not share his plan to sit down with terrorist regimes such as Iran .

Bottom line, my America is vastly different from Obama's, and I have a higher obligation to my Country and my God to do what is Right!

For eight (8) years, the Liberals in our Society, led by numerous entertainers who would have no platform and no real credibility but for their celebrity status, have attacked President Bush, his family, and his spiritual beliefs!

They have not moved toward the center in their beliefs and their philosophies, and they never came together nor compromised their personal beliefs for the betterment of our Country! They have portrayed my America as a land where everything is tolerated except being intolerant!

They have been a vocal and irreverent minority for years; they have mocked and attacked the very core values so important to the founding and growth of our Country!

They have made every effort to remove the name of God or Jesus Christ from our Society!

They have challenged capital punishment, the right to bear firearms, and the most basic principles of our criminal code; they have attacked one of the most fundamental of all Freedoms, the right of free speech! And they forgot what this country was built on ..... Christian principles! They fail to realize when they took "God out of everything" this country went on a downhill spiral fast and still is!
Unite behind Obama? Never!

I refuse to retreat one more inch in favor of those whom I believe are the embodiment of Evil!
