My apologies,
I am a 34 year old married father of two, living in Colorado Springs CO. I have some college education, 12 years of industry specific experience and no formal military training. I have kept myself in good shape over the years and am capable of maxing out the physical training test.
I gave myself the rocking chair test and failed, hence my exploration into finding out how I can best use my abilities to serve my country.
I tend to be a person who likes to be prepared and make informed decisions, so I plan on browsing the valuable information in this forum.
Thank you
Jamie

I think that you sound very intelligent and level-headed. However, standards are standards and I would be remiss in not pointing out a deficiency.
Your first line in your second post should have been "My apologies, Rangers" or "My apologies, Ranger Bill" to be more specific. If you look at the signature line (the last line on his posts, which is identical on every post he makes) he has been a Ranger since before you were born. Please search and find the Ranger Creed and think about it - particularly the 4th stanza.
Don't feel like I'm busting your chops. In my experience of military service (20+ years) those who enter over the age of 25 have a more difficult adjustment period. They feel that they've done something, and are entitled to better treatment than the 18 year old coming in straight out of high school. Some, even though physically and mentally prepared, aren't able to adjust to the equal treatment philosophy. When I was a Drill Sergeant, I recommended release from service several "older" people who couldn't adjust to being talked down to on occasion. So - get some thick skin. Consider the example of Pat Tillman, and how humble he was in the formulative stages of his service.
Good luck, and welcome here.

Mentor Program
Rangers,
I recently finished my training as a 68W here at Fort Sam Houston. I will be attending Airborne on the 17th of July and RIP sometime in October. I would be interested in speaking with someone who can offer some advice and incite into what I am about to go through.
My current PT scores are P/U 75 (stopped there at 1:10 but could probably do 100) S/U 72 (need some work there) 2m Run 14:10 (working on getting faster but can maintain that pace for 10 miles)
My current work out routine consists of swimming Mon,Wed,Fri running Tues,Thur,Sat Cross fit 3 days on one day off and a P/U S/U pt test every evening resting on Sunday.
Any guidance on how to proceed from here concerning the mentor program or mentor forum access would be appreciated, until then I shall continue to search the forums and read.

JLTW!!! wrote:RIP grad, I'm assuming? If so, congrats and where are you headed...or rather how long of a wait do you have for SOCM?
Ranger JLTW,
When I started it was RIP and when we graduated they referred to it as RASP level 1. The Cadre here say the 4 week training is moving to a eight week program. I have about a 2-6 month wait for SOCOM, I'm told, then another 27 weeks of training before I am assigned.
