Keeping powerful political seats in the family is an old tradition. Jack Kennedy had a stand in occupy his Senate seat for several months until brother teddy was old enough to be appointed. Biden has gotten a stand in for his Senate seat until his son "Beau" returns from Iraq. Duncan Hunter's son just got elected to his father's House seat (following his tour in Iraq with the USMC).

There have always been families whose main business is politics, even in our Republic. In the founding of our country, the Adams family had a father and a son who were POTUS, of course Ben Franklin and his son were on opposite sides (son was Royal Gov. of one of the colonies...can't remember which one).
But I'm sick of the practice, I'm tired of our elected officials being named Clinton, Kennedy, Bush, etc. I particurly tired of the "Democratic Royalty" of the Kennedy clan. IMHO JFK was the last one worth a poop, while Teddy is a especially obnoxious piece of work.
