Rangers and site members,
I finally made my way from northeast GA to the Montgomery, Alabama MEPS yesterday. Today I secured my contract. No problems at MEPS. I report to MEPS on 20090218 to ship to Ft. Benning. My unit is Co A 1 SF BN 20 SFG. Thank you to all the Rangers and site members for your help and all the posts you've made over the years, the thousands of years of combined experience on this site is the most powerful tool on the internet for people in my shoes.
I'm in no position to give anybody advice on here, but for people in the recruitment process or just interested I'll say this. Searching for all posts by hit_it and spending just one hour reading is worth spending a month trying to research recruiting information from all other websites and sorting through the sea of bullshit out there. Thank you SFC Hit_it. I'm proud to be a member of ArmyRanger.com, this is the best website there is.

Rangers, Etc.,
Just an update here. Didn't know where to post this. I had my first drill this weekend. I will go once a month to Alabama until I ship out in Feb. next year. We learned some marching techniques, basic information on Army values, teamwork, and talked about things to know that will be helpful before shipping out. It was a relaxed environmnent with a lot of talking in formation and giggling. I was praying we would all get dropped and smoked to eternity to cut that kind of shit out, but it never happened. We took a sort of half pt test Saturday morning and had morning pt Sunday morning. I'm not sure how strict the grader was on push up form as this was my first pt test not self-administered. He told me two push ups were not counted for me not keeping my head up.
Push Ups 1 min.= 62
Sit Ups 1 min.=48
1 mile run=6:45

The future soldier ship program is going to be a lax environment. It's to control the gaggle of belly flops looking to join the ranks. Jut gravitate to the studs, lead by example and go get your shit. Keep in mind that this is NOT an accurate portrayal of the Army and definitely not of the 20th SFG(A).DUG wrote:Rangers, Etc.,

Assignment complete and updated in pt section. Learned a lesson or two out of that. After reading the highlighted portion of my post I came across as a real hardcore wannabe douchebag.
But fucking close.
