Introduction

Post by TxRedRaider »

Hello Rangers,
My name is Joshua, I’m a senior at Texas Tech University. I just went through MEPS and secured an Option 40 contract w/ a 13F MOS. Reading through this website made securing my contract a breeze. Thank you Rangers for all the help and advice you’ve provided. I’ll graduate with a degree in International Economics and a minor in Chinese on 20090507. My ship date is 20090519. I’ll do Basic and AIT at Ft. Sill.
I haven’t preformed an official APFT, so here are my scores based off of my personal counting:

Pushups- 63
Sit-ups- 98
2 mile run -14:23
8 mile run – 1hr 06 mins.
Pull-ups- 6 (palms out)/ 9 (palms in)

I’m training for a 1/2 marathon right now, so my run times should go down quite a bit before I ship. My push ups and pull ups are weak. I reckon only half of those push ups would count, so I’ll keep working at it. Again, thank you Rangers for making this site available. I am not going to waste this opportunity.
Ship Date: 20090519

Welcome

Training for a 1/2 marathon will not affect your run times in the least, it may actully make them slower. Speed and endurance are entirely two different things. Training for a fast 5k will make your 2 mile run times faster, better yet training for a 2 mile run will make your 2 mile run time faster.

good luck
