I am not sure if you are even eligible to file if you are still on duty.

I should have filed for my hearing and my knee. At that time, I thought no big deal. I never did and still paying for it.

I would recommend that you document any and all injuries and illness that you experience while on active service. To me, financial compensation is less important than ensuring that should any old sickness or injury come back to haunt me; it is very important that it will be covered by VA or TRICARE.

As Jim said documentation is the KEY! For me the most important factor was getting my major maladies service connected in order to receive future care.

I would not compare your injuries to someone else's; it's like comparing apples to oranges because what one person's body/mind is able to deal with, another person may not be able to. That doesn't mean that one person's injuries are not greater than another person's, it just means that SC injuries are SC injuries.

If not dealt with properly, little things have a way of growing into bigger things later down the road.

Rangers Jim and Silverback offer the best advice, which is to document everything. In addition, I would add obtain a copy of your med records now; it will smooth the process when the time comes.

You still can file, JP.

And you should.
