Intro - Meander

Post by Meander »

Greetings,

Former Ranger Buddies and now new Coworkers suggested that I join the site!

I attended OSUT at Ft. Benning GA over the summer of 92. I got to stay on for an extended tour as a holdover after appendix surgery.
I attended RIP in January of 93.
I got to hang out at 75th RR for a few months after a SN sanfu.
I reported to 2/75 in March of 93 where I was assigned to Mortars (funny thing for an 11B to go to mortars instead of AT - but hey - that is the army).

I was moved to 1st Squad 1st platoon in the spring of 94.

I attended Ranger School for three classes 11-94, 12-94, and finally graduated 1-95.

I will have to check my records for the dates on this one - I wound up in a massive cast in the summer of 95 after a bad jump at McCord afld (airshow mass-tac hollywood - embarassing!).

I was transfered to USAG - GAAF and finally discharged in 1997.

The best friend you mention in your packet was a friend of mine as well. I was the C Co Mortar section leader when he was the A co section leader. I've heard some bold stories about him these days. Glad he is well.

I also remember the SAW accident, pretty fucked up but a private having the presence of mind to snap the belt while getting shot in the leg was pretty bold.
