Parent Intro
Good Afternoon Rangers,
I am the mom of a recently enlisted (DEP) Future Soldier. My son, who is 17 and currently a senior in high school,
signed the 11xOption40 Contract on 20080812 (would accept nothing less) and will be shipping out three weeks after H.S. graduation 20090630.
His father and I had wanted him to attend college first, as he is an excellent student and has the Florida Pre-Paid all set, as well.
But, we know this choice for him is not a whim, it is something he has wanted to do all of his young life...and he is fully aware of the committment.
He is not a particularly big guy, built more like a swimmer than a football player, but a good athlete, (plays lacrosse), works out daily, and is in his fourth year of JROTC.
He'd leave tomorrow if he could, but I am glad he'll be around for another year before he heads off to pursue his dream.
I'd post his Sit-Rep, but that is for him to do if he chooses to join here (he's more of a doer than a talker)- So, I'll leave that to him...
suffice it to say he chooses to exceed the standards not just meet them.
I plan to simply follow along here, as I have no business posting.
I won't be "running my piehole" or "clucking like a hen" about son's successes or failures here.
(I can cheer or boo-hoo in private, if I feel the need.)
Rangers- I have the utmost respect for your service and dedication. Thanks for allowing me the privilege to be in your company.
