Hello, my name is Riley, I am 15 years old and going in to my sophomore year in high school. I'm probably younger than most members (If not all) that reside on this forum. I live near Yakima Training Center, I'm sure some of the Rangers here have trained there. You got to love the dry desert climate. :D
My current career plan is to join the US Army with an option 40 as part of my contract. I am certain that I should be able graduate from the necessary courses and classes in order to become a Ranger. After I do this I'm hoping to get the necessary recommendations to get in to sniper school and become a Ranger Sniper. (I do understand what a sniper truly is and what his job is) Following the completion of sniper school (or before sniper school) hope to graduate from other schools that I want to take such as Air Assault, or maybe even HALO school if I'm lucky enough to get in.
After I get the necessary experience and acquire the necessary rank I intend to try to get the chance to become part of the 1st SFOD-D. This is my ultimate goal, I hope to achieve it sometime before I leave the Army, but I understand that demands for a job like this are steep, I hope that I have the physical and mental toughness to meet them however.
One quick question I do have is where is the 'Newts' category for the avatars?

Slow down, highspeed. Good to see you doing your homework on what you would like to one day try to become, but take it one step at a time.
1. Don't get in trouble with the Police (drugs, fights, underage drinking).
2. Graduate from Highschool.
3. Enlist in the US Army when you are done with HS.
Those are all a cakewalk compared to what you will go through once you are in the training pipeline. A lot of people talk about all the stuff they will do once they are in and very few actually make it. This is not to discourage you, but to give you a reality check.
Stay focused on keeping your grades up. Nobody wants a guy who is a physical monster but can't spell his name. You need to be well rounded to get ahead in this community and that means being in shape, mentally and physically.
Make sure you read all the FAQ's on this board and resist the urge to post.

Welcome.
What Ranger Puck means is to read much, post little. Virtually everything a youngster could ask here, has been. Almost all of the basic knowledge required is in here somewhere.
Rangers Puck & Nomad are worth listening to, so if they even hint at something, like not posting, it's good to act like what they say are commands from the proverbial burning bush.
This is a very small community which someday may stand you in good stead...or not.
Now go do more PT and improve your homework. The day of the knuckle dragging - strong back - small brain Ranger has passed, Ranger Puck's spelling notwithstanding.

Obviously this youngster meeds some time to evaluate himself before he comes to this site.
I would suggest that he not be allowed to post just read and absorb the information that is providid here.
Either that or ban him untill he reaches the maturity to be here.
