Introduction

Post by kozzman555 »

Hi, my name is Adam. I'm 22, have graduated high school, and just joined the Army. I ship for Basic July 23rd. I got the 11x-RGV4 (the option 40) that I wanted. I've been doing a lot of reading on what to expect from OSUT/ABN/RIP. I'm not nervous, I'm just really excited to get started. I want to go out there and kick some ass. You guys definitely know your stuff and I am excited about learning from you all. I will join your ranks. Not because it's easy, but because I don't know what it means to quit. If you have any advice for me, please post it. Thank you for your time, everyone

Respectfully,
Adam

Welcome Adam, PM inbound.
Sometimes you feel tired, feel weak
When you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up
But you gotta search within you, find that inner strength

To all Rangers and DEP's, I have my PT scores here (kind of). For pushups i did 51 in two minutes. I freely admit that I am woefully out of shape. My situps were a measly 50 in two minutes. My best event which is running was timed at 16:18. However, I did that in about 2.25 miles, rather than 2miles so I am not sure what my 2mile time is exactly (my recruiter had me run around a lake. He thought that 5 laps was two miles when it was over two miles. I'm not complaining, I could use the extra running and I still made it under the minimum time).

I haven't worked out for a couple of years so I have my work cut out for me. In the brief time i have before I ship to basic, I have already started working out with a friend, running, pushups, squats, situps, etc to get myself in better shape. I'm not gonna accept less than a 300 on my PT when im done with boot camp.

Welcome to ArmyRanger.com young man. Congratulations on your opt 40.

Where are you located in Nebraska? You can PM me that info if you would rather.

You certainly need to get to work on the PT! If you will look, listen and pay attention to details you can learn a great deal here that will help you on your journey to becoming an Army Ranger.

RangerRon, thank you for the welcome. I'm currently living in Omaha, NE. GO HUSKERS!!

Ranger Bill, thank you for the PM. I appreciate the heads up. Since I ship out for basic in two days, I'll have to work on my PT at OSUT/ABN. I play soccer and football so getting back in shape shouldn't be a problem. When I was running regularly I would run 5:30minute miles. If anyone has any other tips or advice, I am more than willing to listen. Thank you again, Rangers and DEP's.
