possible fake sf/ranger
I was pointed to your site via some freinds at 1stvets.com (we are a all military online gaming group)
i have come across a indavidual that is claiming he was in special forces, sniper, and ranger.
make a story short i figured its a typical in game drama and didn't pay much mind to it until a few military vets started pointing things out to me.
1. a photo that was taken with him in DCU, full tabs, beret and all, any military person glancing at it would tell it was jacked up.
at this point I just pointed out some errors in it.
i was then informed this person has used his "military background" to get different jobs.
if someone could contact me I can provide more information. but here are links that go to the image and his websites.

i have done what i can to explain all around within the game community that this person was not military, no way, and to include that his mentalty and conartist style does not represent the rest of the military veterans that play the game.
the area of the diccusion fourm has gotten about 12 paages now of replies, alot of them military and vets all very unhappy.

okay you got your intro.
quick review of Age of Conan.
first, i have played most the main ones out there EQ, EQ2, WoW, and a few others, also did the FPS games, Americas Army, wolfenstien, star wars.. (yea i turned into a online gaming nerd when i retired)
age of conan - main thing, if you enjoyed the original conan books you will love the game, if you liked the craptastic arny swartzinwhater you most likely wont like it.
you basicaly start as a slave washed up on shore, you have to work your way thru the starting area, 4 instance dung, and a few smaller area instances, their is roughly 30 quests that you can follow and complete within the story that takes you from the start city to the full game world.
you start in single player mode no other players around, getting thry that you enter the first city, minor multi player here. then when you leave get into the full open world. where you have stygia, Aquillinia and Cimmaria.
tons of quest based on level, then their is the "destiny questline" and then you get into ether solo as far as you want, or group.
guilds are a large part of this game, as with tradeskills.
you have a chance to make a guild city, which requires everyone in the guild to work together, it has 4 different levels. the professions have a level stage for every 10 lvls you gain
start professions at lvl 40,50,60,70,80
gathering (farming parts) starts at 20,50,70
the stages allow you to basicly build better things, and farm higher end things. i.e. start with silver, next stage you farm gold.
from lvl 1-60 the game is very full of content you can go anywhere and find quest lines to follow as groups or solo. sadly it petters out after that.
the game has a few PvP options.
open area PvP maps (borderlands)
Mini games (typica capture the flag, last man standing teams)
Sieges (the real fun)
sieges are in boredlands - basicly a guild builds a battle keep, and it only has a window of time it can be openly attacked.. which is happening already, the building takes alot of guild working together to make.
servers are - PvP , PvE, RPPvE and RPPvP
(player vs player / player vs enviorment / roleplay )
thats the short of the game. now the hard part... the system you play on
if your not running at a minimum -
2 gig ram
dual core proc
512mb video card (8600GT nvida) or (3870 ati)
33+gig HDD
the game is huge, its 100% new and a requirement for the game is they can only use the lore and pre exsisting world in the books. (the books were written in 1930's)
sadly it has bugs, all new games do, but they are working them as fast they can, which is good. i have seen a massive improvement in the game since i got it, i started 2 days after it went open release.
it has the typical MMO people to inclued the gold farmers already.
appearance wise, its one of the best i have seen to date, the detail this game has is outstanding, it has the realistic look and appearance, and of course the blood. blood. and more blood. Oh yes, and th mature rating, which hasn't stopped the kids from showing up.
examples of mature rating - NPC swearing, quest where you save a tavern whore, full body details (means you get to see half nekid boobs flying around)
blood.... they have this lovely thing called.. you guessed it, fatalities, each weapon style has its own high def fatality. that also spurts blood splaters on your screen..
2 hand weapons - chop of their heads, blood spurts and the corpse crumples to the ground as the head rolls away.
bow/crossbow - heartshot / throat shot, blood literaly does the artirial spurting at a high level as they grasp the arrow and crumple to the ground with it spurting every where.
------------------------
classes in the game are catagoried . soldier (guardian, conqorer, dark templar), thief (ranger, assasin, barbarian), caster (priest of mitra, templar of set, herold of xantol, necromancer, demonaligist)
weekly the classes are being modified to improve and balance gameplay.
if i had a way to post some screen shots i would toss a few up for you. i have gone as far as playing 8 different char just to see how well they play and work. i have a total of 5 people in my guild with 30 toons between us so we can build a guild city.
personnaly i give the game a 8 of 10
-2 points for really bad customer service, lack of communication within the community, and skipping repairing 2 bugs that really impacts the entire game by stabelizing the economy.
worst points i do have to state.
you get 6 gathering abilities (everyone gets them), and you get 2 tradeskills (weaponsmithing, architect, armorsmithing, gemcutting, alchemist.. think their is more kinda forgot).
problem is you can select and accept 2 tradeskills, but you can only progress the levels in 1, because of a bug that stops you from getting the 2nd tradeskill quest lines.
next is the auction house, which is the player to player selling of equipment. its broken, you can post items for sell but only about 30% of the items will show when you do a search. and the auction house is what trely sets a games economy due to the fact, that is where people set the value and price on items. you find something and want to sell it, how much? normally check auction house and you got a price. except you cant right now.
okay going to stop rambling now that i have written a huge wall of text, there is alot more about and to the game, so ask away if you want to and i will try and answer what I can.

Let me throw some "movie knowledge" in to the main topic of these posts.
Disclaimer: I by no means am verifying this clown.
It says that he's an actor, and the photo is laid out like a "head shot". The photo's that he posted in DCU's are cocked up. If he recieved them on set it could just mean that the costumer didn't have access to a decent advisor (AR 670-1 is not easy to read for someone who isn't in the military). That's why I had a job in Canada. Could a costumer do research? Yes. Do they have the time? Nope.
I think the guy's photo's are from parts in crappy films he's been in. If he's not a principal actor the Make-up, Costume and Prop department give less than a shit about them.
Tough

I may have to look into AOC. I used to play UO till it went to shit, SWG until it went to shit and DDO for a while.
Looking at the first page of that thread seems like you needs to start that whole guild over. The core members of the guild I am in have been gaming together for right at 10 years; I have been a member for 8.

That and no former self respecting soldier would allow such blatant errors as above as well as his rank is sewed on WAY wrong as are the patches. Look the guy is a dumbass and a poser. Beat his ass, blow your load in his eye, and then shoot him. That is all.cryhavoc wrote:the DCU's are fucked up...but I agree....he cannot be posing, the photo is too fucked up. The SF patch is upside down and the tabs are out of order...airborne at the top, ranger in the middle and SF on the bottom.

Horned toad - I actually have no part in the guild he was running, it was some vets that are in that guid that got me involved.
the actual group i play with we have been playing different games together for about 5 / 6 years. right now there is about 5 of us together working to build our own guild.
Rock Island Ranger n cryhavoc - when i saw that picture is when i got involed in the whole ordeal. it really pissed me off. the image is from a webcam, you can pull that info off the image data thats imprinted into it. the fact that his uniform is THAT screwed up was enough for me to drop the BS card right there. every soldier knows that the uniform you wear is a reflection of you and your unit. and the fact all of his tabs are in reverse order was right away obvious.
his replay was - "someone photoshopped it and reversed them"
of course being a anal retentive NCO i was i had to ask if some also photoshopped his rank on the wrong side and not on correctly, no officer branch insignia, and who in the hell puts a CIB under a halo badge. now its been a while since i been in, but as far as i know combat badges go over the rest of them. i closed with the simple statment that I wouldn't even get into the way he has the beret wrong, flash and unit patch not matching, and of course the top button buttoned like it was.
i was then pointed out to a photo he claimed was him in sniper school. that was of course stole from one of the sniper school web site. which a few other vets pointed out before i could.
which breaks down to simple military dignity. no real soldier would ever do that to a uniform and claim it was them. even my worst soldiers didn't tear up a uniform that bad. and believe me, after moving from combat arms to a support unit i have seen some really bad attempts.
currently this person has majicly dissapeared since he was called out, and has failed to return.
bad thing is, his actions have pretty much ruined a enjoyable game for roughly 70 to 80 that were within that guild. the guilt by assosiation has kicked in along with the tarneshed name.
now most folks would laugh, its a game. for some it is, people put alot of time and effort into online communities.
i have personnaly advised the remaing folks to ether rebuild the name and expect the image that will have to be repaired or leave it and find a new guild to run with. other then that, yeah its a game to me.
but what this guy has done really put a bad taste in quite a few folks mouths.
mine exspecially, i know how hard it is to get into those schools and earn those tabs. i have a freind or 2 that have done it.
but hell it took me 3 years to get my EIB.. and my own PLT SGT was the first to duoble no go me 2 years in a row for throwing a nade the wrong way.
even the worst of soliers still have the respect they show the miltary.
anways i am rambling again.
horned toad - if you do check out AoC or anyone else around gimme a holler. I am on the Set sever normaly i play on "Taill" or "SkellyTin" atm.
