Wait, wait. A fucking supply clerk stabbed a trainee from an entirely different battalion on Sand Hill to death? What the fuck? This story makes very little sense. Either there's piece missing or the supply dude was fucking psychotic.

Without knowing any details - Soldiers in Basic Training are usually rehab transferred across battalions in the same brigade before the Army will cut bait on them.
Additionally, when a Soldier has been identified as "released from training" be it through medical, disciplinary or other reasons, they usually will hang out in the supply room, so they don't infect the ones still in training.
At least - that was the normal routine when I was a Drill and 1SG in basic training. Had to keep a close eye on the supply guy - he or she was usually pretty fresh from training themselves, disgruntled that they had to work long hours as a PFC or SPC, and sometimes got buddy-buddy with the shitbags.
He won't be the first permanent party supply person in the training environment who is court martialled.

"George McDonald graduated from basic training in September, then completed Airborne School before being assigned a temporary job as a supply clerk with the 2nd Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment."
The accused was already through the training cycle.
"He is charged not only with premeditated murder but also with two counts of aggravated assault and resisting arrest. If convicted of the murder charge, McDonald could face a death sentence. He is likely to remain in the Harris County Jail until an Article 32 hearing is held at Fort Benning."
Ft.Benning is not even located in Harris County I wonder if this is taking place in fear of someone trying to harm or kill him.

Most likely it's becuase that is the nearest jail the Army has a contract with.
