Introduction
My name is Nick, and I am planning to sign up for the Ranger program. Before I ship out I am responsible for selling my house, and all personal belongings.
My wife, son and family have been very supportive. The plan is they will stay with family while I go through boot camp, and so on. Has anyone else up and left their families to pursue such a career? Anyone on here anyway that could give me some insight on how the family will react.
My interest was sparked when I was asked to pin the wings, my younger brother earned, when graduating jump school last March.
I plan to eat sleep and breath the Army and Army Ranger life style until I am through training, and serving my country with the most elite on the planet!
Currently I am training for a regional power lifting championship. I plan to set two state records. One of which I currently hold. I understand that powerlifting and training for the Armys Elite, are two totally different animals. But the mental toughness needed to compete with some of the STRONGEST people in the country is all I need.
Sorry for jumping around. I am no writer, but I am stoked about signing up. And look forward to hearing from others.
Thanks in advance!
Nick

Re: Introduction
Rangers,
I have an update on my status, but first I would like to congradulate my younger brother for graduating RIP in Febuary. I am very proud of him.
I completed the ASVAB. My overall score was a 39. The recruiter I have been working with, advised it was in the normal range of scores. He also brought to my attention, that a score that low, would not be enough to get option 40 in my contract.
When I contacted my brother about my score, he said not to fret, just to work on choosing an MOS. He told me I would get my chance to volunteer.
I have a former Marine signed on to rent my house for the time being. This was the final hurdle before giving my notice at work. I plan to take the month of May off to spend it with family, then I will visit my recruiter to get signed up. I hope to ship in June.

In the words of Ranger Capellanus:
Cultivate a Spirit of Excellence
Inherent in the call to become a Ranger is the call to excellence. It has little to do with IQ, backgrounds, culture, situations, or finances. It has everything to do with the will: the will to be obedient, disciplined and faithful.
