Introduction (Marine DEP)

Post by RFS130Z »

Hi, my name is Rob, I'm 18 years old, and I am in my senior year of High school and work as a laborer. I appreciate you taking the time to read this.

I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in early September of 2007. I have yet to sign for any MOS, due to a supposed lack of job openings for my ship date. I ship out for boot camp on August 11, 2008. I have already sent a withdrawal letter to my recruiting station with plans to terminate my contract if possible.

My uncle (former 10th SF Group) has recently inspired me to pursue a career as an Army Ranger. I aspire to get the option 40 contract and don’t plan on wasting it; I have a few preferences but I’m just not sure about what MOS yet. I am very excited and could hope for nothing more then to someday fulfill my dream of becoming an Airborne Ranger.

Welcome.

Was your PT scores graded by the recruiter?

Darksaga,
I was graded on my IST when I initially joined last fall. If I remember correctly I did 93 sit-ups and 17 pull-ups but have I have improved since. The numbers I supplied were done with two friends I occasionally PT with.

Thank you

Ranger Vee,
I just did pushups and a search on the term "RFS." I was not aware of the terms meaning. My username was meant to relate to the chassis code of my car. I apologize for my incompetence and will not let it happen again.

Shush Devil Pup reject.

Use the search button function extensively in your search for answers.

One of the other Dep's should be around soon to give you a welcome packet and square you away.

Read the site rules.

Read a lot post a little.

Good luck.

Don't think of it as a negative young man. It one of those coincidences is all. Here is your chance to change that standard to not include you by successfully going through all the training & RIP to become a Ranger through OPT40, then you will be the exception to the rule. But . . . then again, even after making Ranger - should you get RFS'd from the Ranger unit you will have lived up to your name. Now these are all variables and you can only do one day at a time.

Don't come into the Corps with an open contract unless you want to get screwed into being an Airwing supply specialist like quite a few of my friends did. Tell you're recruiter you aren't shipping unless he gets you infantry. And if you're that motto Recon is hurting for guys right now, so you should be able to get a Recon contract. And if you can't get the contract they ask everybody at SOI who wants to try out for Recon. Anyways have fun at MCRD.
