Some security clearance questions

Post by vash113 »

Hello Rangers!
I will do anything and everything to get option 40!
I have talked to my recruiter but haven't done a prescreen yet.
I have currently been seeing a counselor for depression for 2 months, I have not been diagnosed with any depression but she recommended I get a pysc eval. I know I've had some minor problems but I feel well enough physically, mentally, and emotionally to go through the training. I refuse to take medication but if it turns out I am ok after the eval will I have any problem getting a clearance?

If I don't disclose this info at MEPS will I be in trouble later when they do a background check on me?

Any help or advice wuold be greatly appreciated :)

Do what Ranger Oto-Man says and read the stickies and announcements in the introduction forum before you post. Do more push-ups.

Well, I'm not sure this is still the case, but I think you have to have NOT been seeing the doc for a period of time before you can process for enlistment.

Don't really recall the exact answer. I would talk to a current recruiter about this. Just remember though, you probably will need a phsych eval from the MEPS doctors. Those don't usually end well, or at least didn't when I was recruiting.

JLTW!!! wrote:Be honest! I was in a Boy's Home for several years, then lived on my own my senior year in High School. I was completely honest with my recruiter and MEPS and I was able to get in. I disclosed that I had seen psychologists and a child phsychiatrist and had been placed on meds (which I had not been on for the past year). I told him why, and explained where I was in life and what my future goals were, and it was not an issue, other than the fact it delayed me leaving for basic by 2 weeks. Unless you are a complete nutbag, I would think that you have a fair shot at being able to join. If you're always honest, you never have to fear your past coming back to haunt you!
Oh that's good to hear I'm glad you got in! I feel a little more confident than I previously was! Thanks Ranger JLTW!!!
