Years in IT: 7
Specialties: I wouldn't say I'm an expert at anything; the place I work at requires me to do a lot of different things, including creating VB applications (which I suck at), so I pretty much become just proficient at a lot of different things. I'm better at: Hardware, Networking, GIS, ES&S Election-specific tabulation equipment, VRSystems Election-specific voter identification equipment. I also dabble in graphics and web design.
Platforms: Current MS OS's (W2K>)
Certs: MCSA, Net+, A+.
Something geeky this way comes: Friday, a server rack fell on my leg...it fucking hurt.

Something geeky this way comes: Maybe my CCNA and a sweet network operations position.

Free internet porn is man's greatest achievement. Every technological advancement has been for this one ultimate goal; to take high-resolution pictures of naked chicks and allow the entire world to see them free of charge.Horned Toad wrote:I can download porn

Yep, that's pretty fucking geeky.BruteForce wrote: My first real computer was an Atari 8bit (800) and I still have it actively hooked up with telnet Internet access via a serial to Ethernet adapter.

For the CISSP, I recommend the Shon Harris book, as well as http://www.cccure.org
I spent about 120 hours prepping, and the test is a mindfuck because you don't get your results for about 10 days (unless they changed that).

Doing what? wget-ing RSS feeds and grabbing your email and then causing you to make frowny faces when you get a shit-ton of markup and can't read it?BruteForce wrote: My first real computer was an Atari 8bit and I still have it actively hooked up with telnet Internet access via a serial to Ethernet adapter.

I'm just messing with you. If I still had an Apple II, I'd be doing something goofy with it, too.

OK, I think we have a winner in the geek/cock-size/loneliness contest! I'm not much of a geek, I just do this shit at work. I don't even have a computer at home; although, I have been building one for like 8 months now. :D I guess socket 939 wasn't all it was cracked up to be...BruteForce wrote:Actually, it's watching my wife's webserver and tailing the access.log!EvilCouch wrote:Doing what? wget-ing RSS feeds and grabbing your email and then causing you to make frowny faces when you get a shit-ton of markup and can't read it?BruteForce wrote: My first real computer was an Atari 8bit and I still have it actively hooked up with telnet Internet access via a serial to Ethernet adapter.

The work at home just serves to keep me polished and up on the latest technology, resulting in a higher income than most of my peers!
