Bones.....you have regrets about chewing a soldiers ass?
Leaders are not friends, they're Leaders.
Did they "require it" or not? It's simple.
The pillow thing is not on, do p.t. instead.

,
This is one of the best threads I have read. Great advice has been given to issues that many have.
Either follow the advice or not. You seem to have the ability to communicate and therefore must be able to lead, follow but in anycase do a good job. I hope you become a leader.
Thanks for serving and stay safe over there.

Welcome and thank you for your service!
I do believe that you need to copy and memorize the Ranger Creed that is on one of the pull down tabs under ARMYRANGER.COM at the top of the page.
While you are memorizing each and every stanza of the Creed, think about what each verse means to you and to those that you serve with. No other page of material on earth can spell out what Rangers and their close comradeship means to each other. It will also help you realize where your place in the planet can be if you apply 100% and then some. If you apply the verses of the Ranger Creed to yourself you will become a better soldier even though you may never get to be a Ranger. It will help you to become the leader that you saw sitting across the table from you. You saw something worth becoming that day. Now go forth and become what you need to be!
Look for the Pastors sig line, Ranger Abell9 and then you will know what a Ranger is and what it takes to become one.
You have received more good advise here than a regular at a 2 "bits" Barber Shop. Shut up and don't make us take it all back. Just listen and post only when asked a certain question from now on. Ranger Kilted Heathen will make you want to want to eat that beat up pillow in a few more notes to him!

Spec XXXX
Have you learned anything in the past week about what we are and what we do here at ArmyRanger.com?
Have you thought about the Ranger Creed and what it means to us as a group and as individuals?
And do you you see yourself becoming a better soldier and leader through what you have learned from us so far?
Sua Sponte: Do you know what that means in english?
I would appreciate a good, well thought out, informative, answer from you when you have time from your duties.

I read about the Fallen Ranger.
May he RIP.
I'm sorry for he's family, friends, and fellow Rangers lost. The world is a lesser place. I'll prey tonight for all those who were effected by this tragic loss of life.

Bones,
First of all, welcome to the site. I have been following this thread silently, and you don't strike me as a fucking Oxygen Theif. You seem to have a desire to serve, and to become a good leader.
Take what these fine Rangers are offering you, and apply it. We all know the box sucks, and combat is a shitty deal.. but, drive on. When it starts sucking, get it in your mind, that you WISH IT WOULD SUCK MORE!!!
Others will draw from your strength. Lead by example...
Deeds, not words.
That is all.

SITREP.
With a handful of missions, and the count down to being home is now in the weeks. (I don’t think that information violates OPSEC sense its posted on a website our commander has made) I am doing well. I have been able to go to service a few times in the last month. I have accepted the danger of my job on a new level. I no longer have any kind of flash backs or bad dreams although I still remember the things that have happened clearly. I really feel like I got my head back on straight. The leadership has not improved much at all and their still is not much I can do about it. However, I am looking at it from a new perspective. I am learning what not to do. I am seeing how everything a leader does affect the troops. I also try and see it from the leaders point of view as well and ask myself questions like; if he did this instead of that would our time have been more productive? What if we would have done this instead? What if he would have lessened to the soldiers under him? Could he have made a better choice with the information that he knew? It’s all a lot of ifs. But, I believe it really is helping me learn about leadership in a new positive way. I am a little disappointed in myself, I am still unable to max the PT test and my run time has decreased due to self-failure. However, I’m not going to let this little slump bring me down. With hard work and dedication I have already started hitting the gym and running the moon dust roads again harder then ever.
Ranger Paladin1952 has just told me we would mentor me. Under his guidance I have also started studying information that I need to know.
My current plan is as soon as I get home. I’m going to spend 3 weeks with my family as well has go to a few parties before I go talk to a recruiter. This will give me 4 or 5 weeks to relax some, continues to prep myself physically and mentally and collect a few free extra bucks from unemployment to pay for all the drinks I’m going to buy when I take a little trip with my brother down south to go shark fishing for a week. My brother is even going to work out with me during this trip. He is getting ready to go to a class to be able to get promoted to SFC.

Specialist XXXX comes from a town about 12 miles from me. I told him that I would get him on a PT plan and then we will see about a 91B slot with a recruiter.
Continue a pt program that will accelerate as he progresses back into civilian life. I do not want him getting soft for the time he is off on leave. That is a prime time to just say screw it and do nothing. There is a Gym at his old HS that he can use at night as well as swimming to help him keep in shape. With no adrenaline pumping into him daily he will become lethargic if he does not exercise.
I believe he has the potential to make it and the intelligence to make a good medic.
