RPD survived Cole Ranger
RPD survived Cole Ranger
I received this update today:
Ranger Earthpig,
We returned from Cole Range yesterday. I am very tired, but I think I'll study instead of sleep. I know it probably sounds cheesy, or that I'm trying to look tough - but sleep is never guaranteed, so I might as well start getting used to functioning while extremely tired. I figure it can't hurt to try to train myself while I have the chance.
I'll study most of today, with a few phone call breaks to let my mind rest.
Cole Range taught me a lot about the caliber of people I'll likely be going to battalion with. There are still quitters! They havn't quit the course, but they quit the exercises, they give up on land nav, and they just don't feel an obligation to always do thier best. It kind of worries me that there are still people like that in the program.
Still no counsels, still no attention from any cadre. I hope to maintain mystatus with the cadre, they pay little attention to me.
Ranger Earthpig, I am extremely thankful for this resource. I wouldn't be nearly as prepared for some of the things that are thrown at us without it. I appreciate your mentorship. Driving on!
I just want you to know that I am damned proud of your performance. You went there with the right attitude and have maintained it no matter what happened. Continue with that same mindset. Let it carry you through Battalion when you get there. Believe it or not, they will continue to quit or be DXed throughout your Batt time. In the end, you'll be surrounded by the very best, and you'll know it. Keep it up. You're almost to the first OBJ.

Keep up the good work RPD.
Dont worry about the quitters, their time will come. If not in RIP, then most definitely in Battalion.
Out of the 9 guys that were in my squad when I got there only 5 remain including myself. Stay focused and remember RIP is only the beginning.
