Shawn, it's Mike, we talked on AIM before. Listen man, DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO STAY IN SCHOOL.

I dropped out of high school when I was half way through my junior year and got my GED. Trust the Rangers when they say it will fuck you hard!

I have 1 semester of college under my belt, 10 credits with a 4.0 average, I'm the President of the Student Government at my college, and I got a 91 on my ASVAB and a 124 on my GT, and they still won't give me option 40 until I get 15 college credits.

None of that shit I just mentioned seems to matter to them, all they see is a another fuck up with a GED. If you have a GED and want to become a Ranger YOU ARE FUCKED until you get some college credit behind your belt. And that will take even longer!

Beside, Rangers AREN'T quitters. This is a point in your life where you gotta reach down and fucking muster every ounce of strength you can, because you will make it through this and it will make you stronger for not running, and you will be proud of yourself for it.

Hi Buster,

Thought you might like to hear some encouragement from a female.

Please stay in school and get your diploma, keep telling yourself tis too shall pass. I applaud your courage and strength through this.

Is there a church, activity or community center anything place like that you can go to, do you have a counselor or teacher at school you can talk to that may help you run through possible solutions with your living situation.

About the girls... yes there will be many of them, remember women love a man in uniform and you will have to shoo them off once you have the Ranger Tab, keep your chin up and good luck.

Prodigy 922,
I apologize I wrote Busters name in the greeting in my previous e-mail since I had just finished reading his reply to you. Sorry for that.

When I called today, I told him "I won't be signing anything unless I get my 11x option 40 and all my benefits".... then he paused for a few seconds and asked me "who have you been talking to?" and I mentioned "some military men and women" and he said "well uhhhh, ok well... call me back or come in Wednesday"..

Something seems a bit fishy about him =/
A recruiter...FISHY????? Please do not darken my enlightened belief that all recruiters are fair, honest, and upright. I wouldnt hear of it.

Stay the course young man. Your Mom may be fucked up as a soup sandwich but you dont have to be. My mother bypassed all benchmarks of insanity, drunken stupidity, and eclipsed even a Rangers expectations of how fucked up women can be and I....have done very well by using her mindless examples of how not to do ANYTHING as a guide. As you will. Suck it up, drive on, do well....yep. 8)

Just keep pushin' yourself physically & mentally.

Don't take any shit from the recruiters. My son was "offered " a Cav Scout contract at first. They said no 11x slots available but it was "just like Inf." When he came home from MEPS I went on to explain to him exactly what Cav Scouts do. He was mighty pissed. Fortunately I had just retired & still knew some people. I used the old boy network & called the Recruiting 1SG (Airborne, Ranger, SF) & explained that there's an Airborne Infantry tradition in my family & could he do something. He was very sympathetic. The recruiter came to our house a half hour later all pissed off with withdrawal forms. A month later Infantry slots opened up, he got a $10,000 bonus & was able to volunteer for RIP in Infantry OSUT where he got an extra $3,000 on RIP completion. This time the bad guy was the civilian counselor at MEPS. But... the recruiter knew exactly what my son wanted. He was Cav himself so he didn't think anything was wrong.

If you have to wait a while until the Opt. 40 opens up be patient. Tell them right from the start that you'll accept nothing else. Tell him the Marines have some Recon slots open. Maybe that'll light a fire under his ass!

Hot Damn!!! Congratulations. That is AWESOME.

Now make sure you are ready by getting mentally and physically prepared for anything they might throw at you during training.

Develop Ranger Jim's ''Never, Never Quit'' attitude and you should be fine.

The Sergeant Major speaks the truth. We have seen a number of fully qualified superstuds get themselves into trouble at the last minute. Prodigy, you are progressing on your quest. Never, never quit!!!
