Introduction (bluezman)

Post by bluezman »

Rangers,
My name is Rick, I'm 33 and currently reside in Maine. I would like to thank you for the account activation. I have always had a profound respect for the soldiers in our armed services.
I attempted to enlist in the Army when I graduated High School, took the ASVAB and went to MEPS..however I was turned down due to a problem with my left eye. Through the years that followed my desire to enlist..to become a soldier, to make something of myself has always remained. Until recently I thought I might have been past the age limit to enlist in the Army, let alone SF or Rangers. I have recently been speaking with an Army recruiter and was surprised to find out that is not the case.
I have since taken steps to have my vision problem corrected and would like to if I may, ask your help. I am very much interested in becoming a Ranger.. What advice do you have as far as a training regiment? I consider myself to be in fairly good shape, though I realize that I need to be in peak physical conditioning to attend Ranger School.
Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated and taken with the utmost seriousness.
Thankyou for your time...but more importantly, thankyou for service given that helps provide the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.
Respectfully,

Bluezman

Welcome, Rick. Others will be along shortly. Decent intro - avatar in place, etc. etc. Much better than the usual Friday night trash that wanders in.

Read, search. You'll find your answer.

Welcome to the site. As stated, the SEARCH button is your friend. We have forums dedicated to Physical Fitness, OSUT, RIP, Ranger School, etc. Your questions have more than likely been answered in previous threads. If you don't find the answer to a specific question, ask it in th appropriate forum, and you'll receive answers. Good luck to you.

Welcome to the site.

At 33, it may be difficult to make it through to the Ranger Regiment unless you are a physical stud now. You should also explore teh 18X option as well if your desire is to be in that community.

Good introduction. What skill sets do you bring to the table?

Rangers,

Thankyou for welcoming me to the site and for your words of encouragement. I have been getting myself aquainted with my friend, the search function, and have already found a number of answers to questions I was unable to find just "surfing the net."
Ranger Jim, as far as skill sets that I bring to the table I will honestly say that other than maybe my limited amount of martial arts training (discipline wise) none of the skills I posses would be overly pertinent. What I do posses however, are qualities that I hope with the proper guidance and training, can be molded into pertinent skills. Things such as, a positive attitude, a willingness and ability to listen and learn, drive, determination, humility, and a deep desire to serve my country.
I realize that I know "jack shit" about what it takes to be a Ranger and will not as I am sure many do, profess that I do.
Ranger Bravo57, At 33, I know that I am older than most who wish to embark upon the path to becoming a Ranger, but I am willing to give it my all and then some. Thankyou for the advice on the 18x opt. I will definately look into that.
I go for my corrective eye surgery on July 3rd..and will then get myself setup for the DEP. I want to be sure to give myself enough time for physical training.
Respectfully,

Bluezman

Ranger cams,

No Sir, last week was my first time on the site. I wish that I had found this site sooner though, maybe then "Jack Shit" would be no friend of mine.
I have however, had instances on other sites, email domains, etc. where that username was already in existence.

Ranger FIST TEAM LTR, "It's not a question of who's going to let me;it's who's going to stop me?" is a Fu@*ing great quote...request permission to use that in my signature.
Thanks for the encouragement, I really appreciate it.

Please, list the places that you have used this name before, will you do that for me? My balls are itchy right now.
