I have been reading a lot of Hemingway as of late. Something that I could not have appreciated until I got older. Big Two Hearted River is one of my favorite short stories by Hemingway and one I highly recommend if you are a fisherman.

I read 40 of them. A few missing classic Authors should include: Locke, Milton, swift, Dante, Homer, and Kafka. The omission of the bible is interesting.

Hey Ranger Jim,
I think the absence of the Bible is exactly what is wrong with our world today. We have taken prayer out of school, In God we trust off the new dollar coin. And now they are tring to take "one nation under God out of our pledges" If someone uses the name of God in public, they might be arrested, but if someone bows toward mecca and prays to allah then that is ok.
I do not believe that this is what our founding fathers had in mind.

Old Grunt noted....
) Sun Tzu is good for operational and strategic ops, but he doesn't hold a candle to Musashi on tactical ops.
I would have to agree 100%. Most military officers love to toss an occasional Sun Tzu quote around, but when I ask them about Musashi, they have never heard of him. (I then tend to become snide and succinctly embarrass their intellect...silly me.Musashi's "A Book of Five Rings"
