Introduction (DEP)
Hello Rangers,
My name is Ken. I am a 17 year old senior in highschool. I enlisted with an 11X Opt. 40 contract last August, and am scheduled to ship 20070628. I am considering pursuing a 20 year career in the Army, but I have been told to consider surviving my first term before making any big plans. My ultimate goal is to become a member of Delta Force.
I can do 80 pushups and 80 situps before muscle failure, and until recently I was running a 12:30ish 2 miles. At the time of writing this I am just getting over a two week long case of bronchitis, and frankly, it has killed my run time. I was told by my physician that it's common for bad bronchitis to cause lung damage that can last a while. I am working on bringing my times back up to par and have quit smoking. I will keep you Rangers updated if you wish.
I am 100% determined that I will not fail in my goals. I have had my eyes on the prize for too long now, and already I have made sacrifices. My ultra-liberal girlfriend of four years and I broke up shortly after my decision to enlist. But I know I'd have been a dumbass to do otherwise.
Still, it made me question my motives for enlisting. Somebody said to me "You're going to have to choose between a woman who loves you and being shot at." And I realized that I'm exactly the type of knucklehead who's more interested in getting shot at by hadji than seeing The Notebook one more fucking time. Which brings me to my reason for joining.
Kicking ass with the best in the world just sounded so much better than college.
I enjoy reading.
