I wasn't sure where this was supposed to be posted but,
Rangers,
I had a question about obtaining higher ranks. I was talking to someone who was in the Army and he served for 7 years and is now a Staff Sergeant. I was told that Rangers usually stay within the ranks of an E-1 to E-4 and that it was hard to receive higher ranks than that as a Ranger. Now I just wanted to know if that was true or false? Thank you for taking your time to answer if you choose to do so.

Tell the idiot that told you that bullshit to cram his head further up his ass than it already is.
Regiment is quite possibly the only place in the Army that you will find a 22 year old E-6. Even when I went through RIP in 92, SSG Densmore, who was 22, was one of my Instructors.
I made SGT E-5 in 3 and was scheduled to go to the E-6 board if I would have re-inlisted due to holding an E-6 position, I was 23.
Most of the E-6's had 5 or less years of service and the equivilence of 15 years of experience. I am not sure how it is now but that is how it was.
The reason that it might be percieved as difficult to advance to higher ranks is that it is extremely competitive and most people quit so there is a high turnover rate at Battalion. So yeah, if your a fucking quiter, then it will be harder to get rank, probably like the sorry ass that told you this shit.
I would rather be a private in Battalion than a SSG in Legland.

I hope you are kidding.......
Beat your face!!!!!!!
If you ain't looking for E-6 in the Regiment in 5 to 6 years, you got issues.
7 years as a SSG?!?!?!?! DUDE! He's most likely to retire as a leg E-7 with 20+ years.......

Ranger Charlie and Bravo,
Thank you for your response you have made it clear that he doesnt have a clue about the Rangers. You also made my decision 100% on obtaining my Ranger Contract....(Even though that wasnt a big deal to me I still wanted Ranger or nothing at all.) and I apperciate your time.
