Rangers permission to enter your hooch...

I am on my way to Ranger Class 04-07 (January) and I have been lurking around your boards hoping to pick up some information about Ranger School.

I branched Field Artillery after OCS, and since graduating FAOBC I have been an FSO in 1st BDE 2ID Korea.

I have been PTing myself hard for the past 6 months trying to get into top physical shape for school. Other than studying the creed, I am not sure if there is much else I can do to get ready. Except for reporting to Ranger school healthy, on time, with all my paperwork, so that I can shut up, listen, and learn enough to graduate and not recycle.

If I make it, I will try to get a job as a company FSO in The Regiment before I get sucked up to staff and stuck behind a desk as a 1LT(P).

Perhaps pick up a Ranger Handbook?

Plenty of PT animals that can quote the Creed who can't issue a warning order out there and as an officer you will have to answer that famous phrase..."Whatcha Gonna Do PL?"

That's the advice I would give any officer preparing to attend the course -- of course I'd add that every officer should be able to give a good 5 paragraph operation order. Practice, practice, practice.

Welcome to the site, LT. Hope you make it both to RS and to one of the battalions. I had a great time in my tour as a FIST Chief (guess you call it company FSO now).
