Option 40

Post by JonnyB »

I finally made it to MEPS and signed my 11x/ABN/Opt 40. I ship for Ft. Benning on September 28th. This site has been very helpful for me.
Thank you all.

OK, Jon, it looks like you failed to pick up on my earlier admonition. Please give us the details of your visit and what you are doing to prepare yourself for Benning School For Boys.

Jim - I was originally refered to this site from www.ARMYBASIC.ORG. I came here looking for advice, and to read about other people who are in my same position. I currently am pushing myself to limits that I didn't even realize were possible. I am running 2 miles, 4 times a week, each time steadily decreasing my run time.(16:30/2-mile) As well as sprinting the 1 mile run on the other 3 days of the week.(7:00/1-mile) My goal is to have the high speed 1 mile run going into BCT. I am currently in Good physical shape, so I am concentrating mostly on situp and pushups. While my pushups are strong (45/1-min), my situps are still lacking (37/1-min). Also I am still lacking support from my family, but that is not slowing me down. I am more confident than ever, and I cannot wait to join the Ranger cause. I am sorry if anything I have written here is not up to par, and if somthing needs more explanation, or if I have forgotten anything please do not hesitate to smoke my ass. I am here to become part of the finest fighting force that this world has ever seen, and I am prepared to do whatever is necassary.

Let this go for the moment. I can assure you that when you go home following training, you will be amazed at your reception. It is sometimes difficult because no matter how old you are, or what you achieve, in your parents (and family) eyes, you remain a child. Just keep doing what you are doing, and never, never quit.
