Hi, my name is Quincy, I'm 20 years old and am entering my MSIII year in the ROTC program at the University of Southern California.

I am looking forward to receiving my commission May2008 and entering into my service as an Infantry Officer (God willing). I look forward to receiving the valuable information on this site that will make me a better leader in the future.

I just say that because we haven't been given our official branch assignment yet and didn't want to seem like a poser.

Now, read all the FAQs, stickies, and selected threads. Quite frankly, if you are commissioned an an Infantry officer, you need to successfully complete the Ranger course. There is competition for the job of Infantry Platoon Leader, and with a Ranger tab your chances of getting a Rifle, Scout, or Weapons platoon is enhanced. You are a poser.
Any time you say that you are a Christian and then revert to just saying that to fill in the spaces, then you are a Poser in the eyes of G.R.I.T.S. . Never say that you are something and then take it back. You are going to be a leader of men. Are you going to give them an order and then take it back?Everything that you do or say has a consequence.Think about every consequence before you make a decision with mens lives. Before you say that you are a Christian ,I would think about everything that it takes to become a Christian.
The last thing on earth I would do is renounce my Christianity above my life and that of my family.
Devote your life to something even if it is the leadership of men. That way you will be the best at leading them.

Don't misconstrue my remarks, as they have nothing to do with religion. I simply believe that each of us is endowed with the ability to choose between good and evil, between taking action and remaining passive, and that each of us is eventually answerable for the choices we make. Unloading branch assignment onto the shoulders of the Almighty just strikes me as being a little too passive.
