So, I sold that heavy 20" 5.56 upper to a local guy, and ordered a 6.8 SPC upper from MSTN. I should have the upper in a couple of weeks, with a range report to follow.
16" Douglas SS Recce contour w/ mid-length gas system
Hard chrome fitted 6.8 bolt
Stag flat-top upper
PRI gasbuster charging handle
LMT full-auto bolt carrier
Low profile gas block
MSTN qc muzzle brake
PRI carbon fiber 12" competition forearm
It should look like this with the exception that this pic is of an Ops Inc brake, and the forearm has rails. The competiton version has more venting. I've got an ACOG TA31F to go on it, and the lower receiver is a Bushmaster with a JP trigger and Magpul M93B stock.

Ranger Horned Toad,
I haven't investigated the 6.5 Grendel as much as I have read about the 6.8 SPC. This is going to primarily be an USPSA competition rifle, and with the proper load, I should be able to make what is called "Major Power Factor" which scores more points than the 5.56/.223.
It looks like the 6.8 SPC has more magazine capacity than the 6.5 Grendel, which is a plus for the 6.8 for competition purposes.
Plus, according to the guys at MSTN, the 6.8 is good for hunting deer, and vaporizing coyote heads.

Well, here are the pics. I'm taking it out to shoot on Monday after work. I ordered a couple of small 1/2" rail risers from Yankee Hill Machine to raise the ACOG up, as I feel it is an awkward position for me. My Aimpoint has a 1/2" riser on it, and I like the heads-up position I can have with that on the other AR. This rifle is light. About 7 lbs.

Thanks, but MSTN does good work, I just slapped it on the lower.
Took it out to shoot today, put 40 rds of Remington Express 115gr OTM through it to sight it in, and just get the feel of it.
Wow, this rifle kicks ass! I'm gonna have to get some Hornady match ammo, and see how well it shoots. I finished up by shooting offhand at 100m at an 8" shoot-n-see target, and was hitting a little low and left of dead center. Grouping about 2". Its very light, and easy to control.
Shot my other AR with the Aimpoint on it as well. I think I need an Acog for that one too, or get the 3x mag. I'm going to shoot it this weekend at a 3gun match, and I should have a better range report to follow.

Paratrooper FireFinder you may also want to look at silver state armory. They had loads out way befor Remington or Hornady, and in this months S.W.A.T they did a T&E of the Berrett M468 and the silver state out shot both the Rem. and Hornady.
Just food for thought.

The guys at MSTN told me at first Silver State had some QC issues, but is getting better. I'll have to get some and check it out.
