Yes, they are all stupid and the manager, ex-fiance and caller should all get jail time. What really concerns me however is the girl. Yes, she was stupid, but I think it says a lot about how girls are "taught" to be submissive. Certainly ther are many exceptions and I do feel it is changing, but there still seems to be this culture that causes young girls to feel like they have to do what they are told..... even when they know it isn't right. I think it's the cause of many abusive relationships for young women. I for one, like many of you will raise my girls (if I ever have kids) to kick ass and know how to stand up for themselves and their rights. I just see this type of behavior (perhaps not in this extreme) so often in schools still. Some call it "growing pains" I see it as a much bigger issue.

Not just girls but people in general, so indoctrinated with mindless submission to authority that they forget to think for themselves. They stop thinking critically and just respond to commands. This was made famous in the Milgram experiment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milgram_experiment where individuals were assessed on their level of blind obedience to authority figures. The results are disturbing, as is evident in the news report.
