It's been a while since I posted last. Thanks to all the knowledge on this site provided by you Rangers, I went to the recruiting station informed. I owe all the Rangers on this site and SFC Hit_it a round of beers.
The process has been great so far. My recruiter didn't try to push me into anything and doesn't believe there will be any problems in getting an option 40 contract. I went to MEPS yesterday to take my ASVAB and got a 98. GT score of 137 and the rest of the scores were in the 140s. I was shocked. I've started on the paperwork and will be meeting with my recruiter on Saturday to gather everything together. My recruiter wants me to go to MEPS this coming Wednesday for my physical, clearance interview, and signing the contract. However, I need a waiver for PRK which I had done several months ago so I would think that it will take more time before I can get my physical at MEPS. I hope that the waiver process goes smoothly.
I finally got the ball rolling and took the ASVAB
Sitrep:
I finally was able to get back to MEPS today. Understandably, the MEPS doctors wanted to wait until I had my 6 month checkup.
Last night's stay at the hotel was much better than I anticipated, and I was fortunate enough to have a roomate who was my age and seemed to be a motivated SEAL recruit who was shipping today. So there was no rowdiness and we both were able to get a good night's sleep.
Aside from some misplaced paperwork, the day at MEPS went very smoothly. I was given a go at every station during the physical except for my eyes obviously, I left MEPS around noon and my waiver was sent off for approval. At approximately 4pm today, I got a phone call from my recruiter informing me that my waiver was approved. SFC Hit_it, you were spot on and the waiver came much quicker than I expected.
Tomorrow I will be at my recruiter's station to reserve a contract. Next Tuesday I return to MEPS to finish the process. I will give another sitrep after I've signed on the dotted line.
