I was an R&r guest in Bangkonk in 1970. From the posts and pics from ma91c1an it seems that the town has calmed down a bit. Too bad. But you two better link up and post some sitreps.

I was in college ROTC with Al Habelman, my roommate went to Ranger Schools with him.
Interesting piece of trivia: Habelman attended your class as an ROTC Cadet, however when he got back, he later decided not to pursue a commission as an officer and dropped ROTC. They threatened him with court martial, etc, but he never had dropped out of his reserve unit (12th SFGA), so his ROTC contract was null and void. He had scamed the ROTC for the Ranger tab (not the only school he scamed), then went back to 12th Group.

I went to his funeral last year; in fact I had obtained the piper that played the bagpipes there, at the request of his contractor in Iraq. Not a devout Ranger, he was legendary in the SF community. The stories that were told at his funeral could fill this website, wish you had been there to tell yours.
Where is Al in the class picture?

Welcome to the site.

I met COL Howard at the Atlanta airport sometime last year, he had just been inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame. Fucking great guy, called me out in the airport, saw my Ranger t-shirt I was wearing. Sat down and gave me a pep talk (I was on my way to Iraq) and made me feel 10 feet tall. I have a photo with him on my memory stick, I will post it later.
