SITREP: Bully911

Post by Earthpig »

I received the following from Bully911 today:

Ranger Earthpig,

sorry its taken me so long to update you, i was kinda embarrased about it. I got cut at airborne school for apft failure (pushups).

Now im assigned to A Co. 1/28th Infantry of the 1st Infantry Division at Ft Riley.

My units pretty good, both my 1sg and co were Ranger Instructors. Were an air assault batallion (thank god were not mech). my PL wants to send me to Ranger School, so i should be going within the next year. im trying to see if i can get back to jump school anytime soon, then rip

Thanks for the help, and sorry i failed you.

Bully911

Bully911,

You didn't fail me. You did your best, and at the time, it wasn't good enough. You are still a United States Infantryman, which in itself is something to be very proud of. That is something that many people can't boast.

There are top notch soldiers in every unit. Be one of them. Live the Creed, and you will be a leader. Take some time to gain experience, grit, and endurance. Then, if it's in the cards for you to get a Ranger School slot, give it another shot.

I guess my main point is, be the best you can be at whatever you end up doing. Your supervisors will take note of it, and good things will follow. Thanks for the SITREP. Be safe.

At least he had the balls to come back and say what happened.

Good luck at Riley and throughout your military career, Bully.

DEP MOD: Make sure the roster reflects his current status.

Listen up DEPs, there is no fucking excuse for failing the PT test at any school. All you guys going through the pipeline have to meet the 60% standard to complete OSUT, so why would you fail to meet the exact same standard when you get to Airborne. As if the 14 fucking weeks of OSUT weren't enough, you can count on a few weeks of hold before Airborne. What a golden fucking oppertunity to improve your PT, or at the least maintain the level you are currently at. I just went through all this and I can tell you for a fucking fact that it is fucking easy compared to the shit I do now. I fucking laugh at how easy that shit was. 30 minutes of extra PT every night is all it takes to breaze through the pipeline.

And then once you fuckers fail you instantly start talking about getting a slot in Ranger School. Are you fucking kidding me? You just failed the easiest school in the Army and you're talking about going to a school that is a major kick in the balls to hooahs from Batallion who have been on multiple combat deployments. Fuck, this guy goes from admitting that he failed to get into Airborne to planning on knocking outs Ranger, Airborne and RIP in one TDY trip to Benning. You only get one shot at this shit and there is nobody to blame but yourself if you don't make it.

---End Rant.

Bully991, kick ass at Ft. Riley. Its going to take more than the 75th to win the GWOT. Take EP's advice and you'll do fine.

No one needs a CIB to make it to or through Ranger School. You are one of the guys that are labelled "at the right time in the right place".

So when did you graduate Ranger School again?

My point wasn't that you need a CIB to go to School (and I have neither a CIB or Tab yet), it was that you need to crawl before you can walk. These guys are living in a fantesy world if they think you can go to Ranger School when they can't even pass the Airborne PT test.

I was thinking the same thing, you failed the PT test at Airborne School but your NCOIC is talking about sendin you to hooah school!?!.

Either you have improved dramtically or you were drunk hangin out at the hidden door the night before your PT test and couldn't recover in time. I'd like to think it was something like that.

Regardless of what the fuck happened, let this be a lesson to you and continue to drive on and represent yourself as a Soldier (Ranger EP gave you some damn good advice I'd follow it if I were you)

Good luck kid 8)
