Actually, it takes more cojones to recycle!!!

Allot of us have done the extended tour.

Quiting is the easy part!

This is normal. Dont worry about it.

Just tell him to suck it up and drive on, he'll know what you mean!

Please encourage him. My son said that the 2nd time around was not as bad. He will be able to get some rest and eat a little better so he will be ready to go when the phase starts again. It will also give his feet time to rest along with the rest of his body.

He will be fine.

Don't encourage him...

ORDER him to suck it up and fucking DRIVE ON.

Quitting is what a damn looser does, and he certainly isn't one of THOSE...

Like AbnRgr289 said, MANY of us have been on the "extended tour" LOL. I went through two times my own damn self. Frostbite in the mountains, recycled back and started from scratch (as in day 1 Benning phase) six months later.

update

Post by Diski »

Hello everyone,

I wanted to give the latest on my son who went thru the Mtn training twice. He survived it, but didn't pass- he will still be given the opportunity to thru it again at a later date fortunately. Apparently he lacks the real war experiance, which we knew he was lacking when he started this. He thought he could make it with determination alone, but now conceeds it an essential part of Ranger training. Thank god not passing did not crush his ego  nor his desire to return to Ranger school later on in his career. So he will be joining us for a 10 day rest before returning to his company. I am sure that all the training he has been thru will come in handy when he is deployed, so all the he went thru is not in vain. He is just tougher and wiser now.

I just wanted to say Thanks a million for everyones support, given in a multitude of ways- through humor, empathy, informational, and the good old 'stop yer sniveling and get on with it'. You are a great group of guys and gals and your friendship is truly appreciated.

I will be back when he signs up again for Ranger school, but in the meantime I wish that you and your sons/daughters to remain safe from harms way, and have a healthy and happy new year!

Thanks again,

Diski

First of all..."Hi,Ladies...!!?!!?!?!"

Second of all, what the fuck is all this "apparently he lacked" bull-shit?

He failed simple as that.
He doesn't need any fucking encouragement for fucks' sake!
He just bolo'd mtns twice and has to go back and start from day fucking one.
He needs a fifth of Jack and a fucking hooker.
Get with the goddamn program.
Have you come all this fucking way for a "Brady Bunch Hug"?

That's likely why he failed in the first fucking place.
Take him out and get him stinking fucking drunk stick a C-note in his gob and push him face down in a stripper.

Then tell mommy and the sisters to shut the fuck up and get in the goddamn car.

If the "Ladies" are really that bent on encouraging him...you can get your asses down there and get the fucking stripper drunk.

C'mon people...start acting like a team here!!

Diski,

I think you forgot protocol. Truth hurts? This isn't your normal touchy, feely, chat board. You get to hear it like it is here.

Your no-go son is lucky he's getting a second chance. Combat experience has nothing to do with Ranger School. Determination and knowledge does.

He wasn't prepared. Maybe next time.

He just failed Ranger school-Sounds like he shouldn't really have an "Ego" right now.
Your his father and it's great you support him, and if he can get back to Ranger School and pass great.
When he gets back to Bn. he should expect to get his bag smoked because his failure is an embarrassment to his unit.
If he can over come the hard times a head, he will truly have earned his tab. But, he will face difficult times. Good luck to him and you.

Bell,

You are correct, as I stated-he was not prepared. And yes, he IS lucky in that he will be given a second chance.

As far as protocol is concerned, I thought RESPECT was at the top of the list. Or is it that anyone that is not a Ranger has to show respect, but you Rangers can say whatever you please, however you please to say it, and its supposed to be okay?

I only said thank you for christ sake!

Believe it...all those Rangers that recycle are better Rangers because of it.

Of course if you have to go through Kindergarten twice...Does that mean you're smarter than the kids that went through once?

Diski,

It takes a big man to give that kind of ass-chewing to a Mom. Just lost all respect for that Ranger.

Sorry to hear your son didn't make it through this time around. Things happen for a reason. I'm sure the next few weeks are going to be pretty tough for him.

Good luck to both of you.

Unfortunately for the both of you, you don't have the option of choosing to pay the proper respect on this site.

Oh, I'm sorry. Maybe you should send me a list of people YOU think I should respect. Is that how it works on this site?

I have a combined total of 50 plus years, being supportive of war time service members - in my family alone. I think I can decided who deserves respect and who doesn't.

This is only part of his military history.
