Let me first say to you all THANK YOU for your kind welcome and great advice. As a parent going thru this army routine, we are having a difficult time acclimating to the lack of army communication and still have much adjusting to do. I guess we are still getting used to our son growing from a wee snot nose obstinate parent-hater to a phenomenal young man and soldier. We are very proud of him, and maybe proud seems understated. In AWE of him seems closer to home...

Anyway, we have made the reservations and will be there 8 days. God help him if he doesnt make it to grad, because what will we do for 8 days :shock:

Any suggestions for the Turkey Day meal in the Benning or even Atlanta area?

Does anyone have any idea how many have to recycle during the FL (swamp navagation) phase?

Any suggestions on how to help him should he NOT make it?I don't want to put a jinx on his grad, but I want to be as prepared as I can be so I can support him if and when he needs it. And don't yell at me, Im still trying to let go :wink:

Last year we did Thanksgiving at the Courtyard near the Mall - I brought stuff from home and we warmed it up there in the microwaves they have in the room We ate and ate all day long :)

Try try again, and again, and again...

Hi Ladies-

Sorry to have been off line for these past few days- have been out of town.

My son called on Thurs to tell us he has to recycle thru Mtn training. He sounds dejected and frustrated, but not enough to call it quits. He says it take bigger cojones to quit than to go thru it again!

Hes going to try again despite the bad feet and 30 lb weight loss since the start of this.

Hes having a problem due to lack of experiance and any active duty. I didnt know how, or even if I SHOULD encourage him to try again since he was so mentally tired.

My god, the disapline you Rangers must have has got to be monumental...

We won't have to worry about where or what to eat on Thanksgiving Day now, but thanks for all the help and suggestions.

He said when they returned to base they stuffed themselves till they got sick, then did it again!

Will send him a care package so that he gets it when this phase is over.

Encourage him! Tell him he can do it....don't quit!

He's in the Army now one way or the other. When/if he deploys.....you want him with a Ranger Batt. :wink:
