on to jump week
on to jump week
well out of tower week and on to jump week and am i glad. ill be looking forward to my jumps. its real comforting to get the malfunctions class last that way it fresh on your mind when you jump. Quck question i had a friend graduate today and he said that he got to 100 feet and forgot to pull his risers until about 50-60 feet. He said that he landed softer doing it there than at 100 because he was able to pull his risers farther down and hold it longer. If he pulled at 100 feet and slowed down as much as he did he said there is a greater chance of oscelating(sp?) Any comments on that?? Also i went in to Airborne with no RIP contract and im going to graduate with a RIP contract, i signed my volunteer statement last night!!!!
Re: on to jump week
It's not a very safe thing to do taking advice from someone who doesnt have much more experience than you do compared to a Blackhat with years under the canopy and the training to instruct proper jump procedures.ephi308 wrote:well out of tower week and on to jump week and am i glad. ill be looking forward to my jumps. its real comforting to get the malfunctions class last that way it fresh on your mind when you jump. i would never question what my black hats tell me. it was just something i never heard i mean how do you forget to pull your risers. That is why i asked the Rangers and Paratroopers that have done this for a while. i plan on doing everything i was told. I was just curious. I do hope i dont collide with anyone or have someone steal my air. all i can do is slip away.

Drive on! Never quit!!!

I am a Master Parachutist and I have approx. 17-years on Jump status.
He didn't "Forget", he failed to follow instructions.ephi308 wrote:i had a friend graduate today and he said that he got to 100 feet and forgot to pull his risers until about 50-60 feet.
It felt easier because he was scared and pulling risers is alot easier when jumping as opposed to suspended agony.ephi308 wrote:He said that he landed softer doing it there than at 100 because he was able to pull his risers farther down and hold it longer.
My comment is...If you are taking jump advice from a guy that hasn't even jumped with his eyes open yet you are begging for trouble.ephi308 wrote:If he pulled at 100 feet and slowed down as much as he did he said there is a greater chance of oscelating(sp?)

Jump week is a great time! Remember ALL of your training, and keep your feet and knees together.
And God shall wipe away all the tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death. Neither sorrow, nor crying. Neither shall there be any more brain; for the former things are passed away. - Revelations
