I received this letter from my son at Basic - Week 3

Sat. Aug 13
Wow…What a crazy day it’s been. Well, we started the morning with a PT Session. We did our initial PT Test a few days ago; and based on that, they broke us down into 4 run groups. “Aâ€

So, Mom, how many times have you read it now? :D

I know how good a letter in your hand can feel.

Sounds like he's hanging in! Thanks for keeping us posted.

My son got pneumonia during Basic and was in the hosptial for a couple days. The one thing that motivated him to get better and push himself to get up to speed again - in order to not have to recycle - was that Gas Chamber experience :) He'd do anything to avoid having to repeat that!

Glad to know your son's doing well. The inter-platoon rivalries are great :)

I appreciate you posting that letter. I love to hear how these young men are handling their training.

Luck to him. Tell that troop to drive on to the objective and complete the mission.

I loved the Gas Chamber....wish I had one in my back yard. Snot neckties, burning sensation.....very cool. I need to get some CS, anyone have any....want to throw it in the SPCA here in town. Cats and dogs REALLY love that shit.

I'm sure your sweetie, the new animal control butch, would just love that.

Alot of kids woulda fallen out on a run like that. It sounds to me like he has heart and actually gains strength by watching the others fall out  . Best of luck to him!

Great letter Kelli, be sure you save all the letters you get from your son. My Mother did and gave them to me years later. They are priceless to me...my 'gas chamber' letter was hilarious.
