???

I am currently enrolled in the ROTC program. Does this mean that if I am commisioned as an officer that I will have a very slim chance of becoming a Ranger? If this is the case than I need to rethink wether or not college is important to me at this time.

Go to college. Continue with your plan now. If you don't think ROTC is for you, quit.

You can enlist after you graduate, then if you like, attennd OCS at a later date in your military career.

I was given a four year scholarship for ROTC so after I graduate I have to serve for 8 years. The scholarship is the only way I would be able to pay for school. That is why I asked. I can still choose not to do it if it will kill almost all chances of me achieving my goal of becoming a Ranger.

Then stay in on your scholarhip and get your commission.

You may still be able to serve in the Regiment.

Just be the best Soldier you can be regardless of where you serve.

In some cases NCO's can make the change ....but not in all. The worst officers I have ever had to deal with were former NCO's.

You should avoid categorical statements, unless you meant to say that I was ate up...
Sorry for the late reply; 'just looked at this thread again.

Ranger Sobersides, I was in legland, and worse, home of the ADA. It seemed that most of the officers were fucked up in one way or another. Because I've seen so few that I felt were squared away, I've always thought that prior enlistment would have been a good idea. It would be a screening process and an indoc into leadership positions. If you're good, with your shit wired tight, getting your hearts desire is an eventuality (true, some longer than others). Stay in School. I know some that would give their Left Nut for a 4-year scholarship!

STAY IN SCHOOL. Besides, at least you'd be an educated idiot versus an uneducated one..

Good Luck!!!
