I think our brass i realizing it was a mistake to disband the Airborne Reg because a couple of badapples, and are now considering making a new highspeed airborne unit. Who knows how long it will take though. The stupid thing is that the gov't is gonna look like the goodguys for doing it even though it was their fault it got disbanded in the first place. You guys ever gonna get yer airborne unit back?
side note, when the Airborne did get disbanded each regular infantry regiment (there are only 3) got a jump company from the airbone reg and the rest was dissolved. The platoon I was with in Bosnia was mostly made of ex-Airborne guys which was an awesome learning experience for me. One problem nowadays though is that you get kids who finish basic/battle school then get their jump wings and are sent to a jump coy, but think they are just as hooah as the old airborne dogs. And its totally different than what it was. Its like the 82nd to the 75th both units are awesome but there is a big difference between them.
