Mechanic is a term of endearment, meaning, you are a pro at your profession. It means that what you had said could not have bee said better. It was a compliment. Sorry, I thought that was a quote known by a lot of people. It was from a movie, I can't remember which one.
It's all good.

Interestingly enough (showing my age here), the quote is from a Charles Bronson movie called...(drum roll, please)....The Mechanic.

The term "mechanic" is a euphemism for a methodical, technically adept and creative hit man.

Jimbo, calling you "a mechanic" was a compliment, and a good one. I think that I have to start calling you "the mechanic" as well, particularly after that story you told me about the titty bar and the wet spot on your buddy's pants.

only one place to hear that story, and the later story about the same guy, Jimbo's buddy (who, for all that I know, is among us here), who has a....unique girlfriend.

you got to ask Jimbo to 'fess it up.

funniest shit that I heard all week.

This is a story for another place. Although, quite funny and entertaining I don't think the busboy would get it and I am really concerned that he would use it as an attempt to include it in his dietary menu...
