Tabbed 101st dude checking in
Hello All,
Just thought I would introduce myself and give you all a little background:
I was in from 89 to 94. Basic AIT Airborne, went to Germany for two then back to Bco 1/187th Inf. (101). They sent me to Ranger School, class of 2/93. Graduated class of 4/93. Competed in Best Ranger Competition in 94 on the 101st team.
Now I am in NY. Stumbled on the site while ordering a hat and after reading some of the funny shit that I used to hear every day I signed on.
I will be posting this in the Introduction section when I get a chance. You may of course contact me directly or through this and I will be happy to provide you with any credentials needed.
Just so you all know, I am not a big beer drinker. Germany spoiled me on American beer, so Jim Beam and Jack Daniels all the way around at my place.

Thank you all. If you were closer, and I wasn't at work, I would pour some Jim or Jack - and I pour heavy. I have a couple questions:
1: How do I get "Newt" out from under my name?
2: What does "DEP" stand for exactly? My best guess is 'wannabe ranger thinking of maybe doing something about it'.

I used to love the idea of hopping out of Shithook or Craphawk with Apache gunship support instead of being scattered all over the place after a jump (especially after an AF Reservist mistook the river for the road and scattered us 10 miles short or long). Finding out just how easy those helicopters are to take down with an RPG has made me re-think the whole thing. Now a quick jump and pull the risers for a faster fall sounds like just the way to go.

DEP stands for Delayed Entry Program. It's a program that enables an enlistee to join the Army and not leave for their training up to 365 days after their enlistment. It also gives the enlistee a chance to learn some basic skills and get into better shape under the supervision of the recruiter.2: What does "DEP" stand for exactly? Welcome to the site RangerKelly, hope I could be of some service.

Thank you all for the welcome. I will probably recon the site from time to time. I get a good laugh out of all the stupid questions that the wannabees ask, and more of a laugh at the heat rounds those questions draw.
