Your right they're not OPFOR they serve as squad members within "G" bands. Next time don't open your fucking mouth till you know what your talking about. I may not have any real Army experience yet but I sure as hell know what I am talking about when it comes to ROTC.

I guess I need to call my buddy from 2nd Batt back and tell him he's full of shit.

Let me know when you get selected for this.

My buddy from 2nd Batt went Green to Gold. Commissioned, graduated IOBC, and is now at SFQC.

Now, SHUT THE FUCK UP!
How on earth are you two helping this young lady out?

FWIW, I just recently got commissioned in 1996.;) I was in the SMP but was prior service, so my first summer in ROTC was at Advanced Camp. However, I am fairly certain that my partner who had the Guaranteed Reserve Forces Scholarship and did not go to Basic Camp (now called LTC, I believe) was able to go to Air Assault prior to his junior year. Further, the fact that he went to AAslt means that he would have been qualifed for all of those programs (ABN, AAslt, CTLT, Drill Cadet, NORWAR, mountaineering...) were he qualified or high enough on the OML.

Lastly, unless times have changed, when I completed OBC, I know that ABN school attendance was expected of all of the Infantry LT's and in talking to my ROTC peers; men and women, they were pretty much afforded the same opportunity. Like I said, I don't know if it's still that easy.

Please don't take anything I say as absolute as it could very well be dated.

Ranger Gpatmac......it was an argument about Cadets being OPFOR for Robin Sage. Both myself and Goardheart both offered our points-of-view from an ROTC Program prior to the argument.

Just a difference in information, Sir.

sillyboysgunsareforgirls - Here is a more approptriate forum for questions about ROTC. Hope this helps. http://platoonleader.army.mil/user.php

Ranger Gpatmac, as I am sure you know by doing ROTC yourself I was trying to say that most of the time, as a cadet, slots for schools such as AA, airborne, etc are given out during a cadets sophomore year. And yes I have heard that follow on schools are available and encouraged after OBC no matter what branch.

Roger, I understand.

Her request was for any helpful information about BT and special schools she could attend during during her time in ROTC.

I see the available special schools/duties has expanded for cadets, but are you saying that a female can be OPFOR at RS? Even if that were true, what good would that do her in her career?

An 2nd Lieutenant, especially non-combat arms NEEDS basic parachuting wings. It's not mandatory, but it helps establish credibility for them.

My last XO that I was was lucky enough to take had a BARE SHIRT. We were a rifle company preparing to deploy to Afghanistan shortly after he became XO. He definitely needed help establishing credibility with the Platoon Sergeants, because he certainly had a rough time establishing it on his own.

Catch my drift?

As a matter of fact, there's a potential that being a veteran OPFOR at Robin Sage may create more flak from your NCO's rather than credibility.

My $.02.

Ranger Gpatmac-
I am not sure about females at Robin Sage. It doesn't stick out that they were not allowed. But I supose doing it could give any leader a leg up on their peers during STX/Patrolling having seen SF candidates conduct TLP's in a tactical environment.

Wow guys this is all great info. Any thing i should know before basic this summer? I think im probably worried about the stupidest things, but never the less the more i hear people tell me what im getting myself into the more it eases my mind. I have no doubt ill be just fine, im a stubborn person, and i am certainly going to become the pussy ass girl that crys all the time at basic. BUT...its nice to know as much as i can, i have been a sponge for this kind of knowledge lately.

I have develped a work out routine around the PT test, i can already pass the sit ups part, and i can pass the pushups for my recruiter requirements. My run time has been improving a minute every time i do it, so im going to time myself again on saturday and i should have my 1 mile time fast enough to pass it for my recruiter as well. I have been reading like crazy, i read this book all about BT, and I have been studying up on Rank etc. I havent worked with a M16 before but i can take apart and reassemble the ak47 in about a minute so i dont know what else to do to get ready for it. but im trying my best. I guess i want to get there and be the most sqared away to make it easier on myself and to avoid the stereotype that im going to fall into from all the pussy ass girls that have gone before me. I REALLY appriciate all your guys' imput
